History:
Established in 1986, Autech creates tuned versions of brand new factory cars, and instead of selling them privately, retails the cars through Nissan as special editions, similar to Nismo branded models.
This Stagea 260RS Autech, is a tuned version of the Stagea made by Japanese tuning company Autech. The 260RS uses the 2.6 litre / RB26DETT coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission and features ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive from the R33 GTR and a limited-slip rear differential. Other modifications include Brembo brakes, 17″ BBS forged alloy wheels, body strengthening, an undercarriage protector, upgraded suspension, a front strut brace, a special rear stabilizer, Autech badging and an Autech body kit that includes unique side skirts, front bumper and tailgate spoiler. Interior modifications include an R33 GTR steering wheel, GTR style gauges, a leather shift knob and parking brake handle and special seat trim. Like other Japanese sports cars of the time, the 260RS officially produced 276 hp (206 kW) but most sources believe the actual horsepower to be higher. Only 1,734 260RS (series 1 and series 2) models were produced from 1996-2001 and a few found their way over here.
Car:
Performance, well it’s basically a R33 GTR with an extended rear end! Plant your foot down and the 4wd system plants the power down to the road and keeps you pinned back into your seat until you let off!
Boost has been set to 1.3bar high and at this boost setting it will embarrass a lot of so called sports cars.
Bodywork is in fantastic condition as the car had new lightweight front wings and a full back to the bone re-spray in Paprika Red in 2006 (Originally Black) including additional cooling bonnet-vents added and is really tidy with no rust anywhere. Same can be said for the interior; clean with nice upgrades such as the fuel air ratio gauge on the steering column.
The car has covered approximately 97,000km (60,000 miles, 3000km) since the engine tuning modifications were carried out by GBH Motorsport UK in Langham, Colchester & has recently been back for 12 month MOT and re-serviced by GBH Motorsport on 09/11/18 as she has been maintained / sitting in a garage for the last 2 years due to owner’s health, however GBH report the engine and gearbox are in good condition. Engine starts on the button with good oil pressure and no misfires/ smoke. The gearbox is very smooth with no crunches/synchro issues. The Chassis is in very good condition with no rust etc.
Loads of bills & history included from when she was imported to UK by Andy Barnes at SUMO Power in Kent. It is also known to Middlehurst & Abbey Motorsport who have also had inputs into the car and she even comes with the original Handbooks from Japan (in Japanese!)
The car was sent to Carson Performance in Dorking at the end of 2019 where the underside was refreshed. Virtually all components were removed and the underside was treated with an almost factory like coating No hick nasty stuff. No welding whatsoever was required. Brake lines were replaced for braided lines, Strongflex poly bushes installed, ARB drop links, Hard Race rear camber arms, hicas delete, meister r coilovers, complete wheel alignment and rear arches rolled.
You will be hard pressed to find a better example in the UK.
